PHOTOS & REVIEW: The Psychedelic Furs & Robyn Hitchcock @ The Commodore Ballroom

The Psychedelic Furs, SOLD OUT show at the Commodore Vancouver on July 19th 2017. With a packed house of all ages from 20 to 60+, The Furs had the place Rockin and signing to all their songs. This band brought back a lot of high school memories for me and I'm sure a lot of others. Richard Butler's voice was still as unique and strong as ever. The band consists of 6 members; Richard, Tim Butler, Mars Williams, Paul Garisto, Amanda Kramer and Rich Good. They came together in England in 1977 during the developing punk scene. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1980 and quickly became a top 20 hit in the U.K.  After many album releases in the '80s, The Furs released a sax-infused version of Pretty In Pink for the soundtrack of the same titled movie which became a huge hit. The band went on an almost decade long hiatus until 2000 when they released a live album, Beautiful Chaos: Greatest Hits Live. 40 years later, The Psychedelic Furs are still touring strong. Robyn Hitchcock had a large following at the Commodore in Vancouver. A very talented eccentric British singer-songwriter, guitarist now living in Nashville. Robyn is poetic, lyrical musician with songs like "My Wife and My Dead Wife", "So You Think You're In Love" and "Madonna Queen of Wasps". Playing the acoustic guitar, I was mesmerized watching his fingers dance all around the strings. He entertained us with not only his music but with his comedic stories. Thanking us for having his Queen on our stamp. An all around great evening.
